Team Portal 2: Portal Co-op Trailer

I love co-op but I’ve never seen it done with a puzzle game.  It would require both people to think alike or atleast have very good communication.

Infamous 2 Gamescom Trailer

This trailer gives your first look at the re-revised look of Infamous’s star, Cole.  There is just a quick pan around him as the lighting flashes but he seems to still looks like he did on the Game Informer cover. I would expect a clearer image of Cole to be released in the near future.

Resistance 3 Announced, Teased

Playing as Nathan Hale you sometimes forget what it’s like in the Chimera infested world.  You never see the people on the streets running from or even fighting the Chimera.  This teaser gives you a look at what life is like for your average American citizen in the world of Resistance.

Since they announced Resistance 3, I’ll cover what I’d like to see in this sequel.

A) A good story.  Resistance 1′s story was simple. Players filled in the blanks and that made it better.  Resistance 2′s story was just confusing and bad.  They tried to make things way too connected and grand and it ended up like a really bad SyFy movie plot.  I want to see them focus on the people and how they are handling it rather than the bizarre Chimera origin.

B) Campaign Co-Op – I love playing campaigns with my friends.  We get to experience amazing story moments together making it more epic.  There is nothing like hearing, “Wait…Did that just happen?” over your headset.  Resistance 2′s co-op was a nice novelty worth a few paththroughs but if a friend wanted to play co-op I’m pulling out Fall of Man way before I pull out R2.

C) A new character – Spoiler: Nathan Hale is dead.  I don’t want to see him pull some magic trick that brings him back from the dead. I want to play as a normal person.  The teaser is proof they are fighting just like everyone else.  It would be even greater if you switch between characters giving you a view of the battle from many points of view.

Despite Resistance 2′s faults, the series is one of my favorite FPS and can’t wait to play the game after it’s 2011 release.

How Mickey Became Epic Mickey

Epic Mickey starts way back before Mickey was the well known nice guy that he is known as today. The opening is based on the classic Mickey cartoon “Thru The Mirror” and I imagine we can expect several other classic Disney references in the game.  I don’t think Epic Mickey will be as good as Kingdom Hearts, but this cutscene does make me want to see more.

We are Milo’s Tyler Durden

When I first saw this game/tech demo, I expected it to be something directed at kids.  It is now more of a parenting simulator.  We play is Milo’s imaginary friend who helps him deal with his transition from England to New England (the superior England).  Let’s start by saying his claim that “no two Milos will be alike” is a complete lie.  It’s would be like saying no two playthroughs of Mass Effect or Heavy Rain will be the same.  It will clearly have key points where players can interact with Milo and depending on how those go, you will make a certain Milo.  The second thing is 90% of players (males atleast) will be yelling at Milo and making the most traumatized virtual child ever created (if “conjouring” an imaginary friend wasn’t a bad sign to begin with). Despite all that, the software and technology behind it is pretty impressive.

Bioshock Infinite

Bioshock Infinite is made by Irrational Games the makers of the original Bioshcok game. It takes place in the flying city of Columbia during 1912. It appears to be both similar and very different from Bioshock at the same time. I like the steampunk look and exploring a Rapture like city while it is still in it’s prime plus that robot thing from Trailer looks a lot scary than they Big Daddies ever have. The bad news is we won’t be seeing Bioshock Infinite till 2012. Hit the jump for the official press release.

New LittleBigPlanet 2 Trailer

I think LittleBigPlanet was a good idea that needed some work.  I didn’t make it through half the levels that came with the game due to problems with the planes of depth glitching. My time in level creator was spent messing with physics and making simple cars because making a decent level took too much time.  However, if you hopped into the community levels you would see thousands of amazing creations showing LBP’s true potential.

LittleBigPlanet 2 is improving on the recipe making it easier to create levels with things like direct control of vehicles and objects and AI bots, but I think what has me most excited about the sequel is the gadgets featured in the trailer.  I’m not sure when a grappling hook doesn’t make anything more awesome; the creatinator, which will allow you to shoot out building materials, will allow for amazing puzzles; and the power glove will finally fix that sometimes annoying fact of the Sackboy’s limited ability to affect the environment (only being able to slightly tug on things). I can’t wait to see how creators incorporate these tools into new levels (ultimate Batman level, anyone?)

Halo Goes Retro: Halo 2600

Ed Fries, former VP of Microsoft’s game publishing division created a retro Halo for the Atari 2600 which debuted at the Classic Gaming Expo in LA.  You can play the Flash version over at his website.

Bonus: There is a warp zone on the final screen of the big enemy area before the second base.  Go to bottom of the screen and then go right. You will pop up just a few screens before the final boss.  However, if you grab the speed boots you will not be able to use the warp.
